Legon Cities pay tribute to late goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey

Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities FC has paid tributes to their late goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey who passed away just recently.

The unexpected incident occured on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Elubo government hospital in the Western Region.

As reported by Getsportsgh.com, the 26-year-old died following a short illness having complain of stomach pains.

Legon Cities fast-forward confirmed the news in a post on its social media platforms.

The club in a tributes said they were devasted by the sudden demise of the ex-Tarkwa Barcelona FC goalkeeper.

“It is with a heavy heart that we sadly announce the passing of our goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey.

His demise is a big blow to everyone associated with the club. Our hearts & thoughts are with the bereaved family at this very difficult time,” Legon Cities FC said.

According to the Royals the club is in touch with the family of the deceased to know their next course of action in the coming days.

Sylvester Sackey has been with the Ghana Premier League side for the past four years until his demise.

During the 2022/23 football season he made 19 appearances in the Ghana Premier League for Cities, making a lot of remarkable saves.
