Several clubs interested in Jonathan Sowah - Medeama Board Chairman reveals

Medeama SC board chairman, Dr Tony Aubynn has disclosed that striker Jonathan Sowah has become a target for several clubs in Africa and Europe.

Sowah has gained the attention of some top clubs following his exceptional performance for Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.

The deadly goal poacher played an instrumental role in Medeama SC historic first Ghana Premier League title last season.

His stupendous form for the Yellow and Mauves in the ongoing CAF Champions League has earned him multiple call-ups to the Black Stars by coach Chris Hughton.

Sowah’s outstanding performance is what has attracted interest from some top-notch clubs in Africa including Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC, who are currently the defending champions of the CAF Champions League and the record-winners of the competition.

Even though Sowah has attracted the interest of Al Ahly SC and several clubs, Dr Tony Aubynn has made it clear that the lanky goal poacher is currently not for sale.

“Now, we do not want the player transferred to any club, but perhaps in the future, we will think about it,” Aubynn told OnTime Spor.

He indicated that Medeama have not had any negotiations with Al Ahly SC for the transfer of Jonathan Sowah as being speculated in the local media.

“There are no negotiations between Medeama and Al Ahly regarding Jonathan Sowah, and we have several clubs interested in the player, including Egyptian and European clubs.”

Medeama SC have begun their CAF Champions League group stage campaign, losing the first game to Al Ahly SC by 3:0 at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo last weekend.

The Ghana champions will host Algerian side CR Belouizdad in the second fixture of the CAF Champions League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, December 1, 2023
