Medeama not in talks with Al Ahly for Jonathan Sowah

Medeama SC board chairman, Dr Tony Aubynn has said the club has not entered into negotiations with Al Ahly SC for the transfer of striker Jonathan Sowah.

Sowah has been heavily linked to the Egyptian football powerhouse following his outstanding performance for Medeama SC in the ongoing CAF Champions League.

He has been a key figure in the Medeama squad and was spectacular in the team’s historic first Ghana Premier League title last season, scoring some important goals.

Even though Medeama begun the group stage campaign of the CAF Champions League on not a good note, Jonathan Sowah has been phenomenal so far.

His unimaginable performance has attracted interest from several clubs including Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC.

And even though Al Ahly SC have reportedly expressed interest in signing Sowah, Dr Aubynn has indicated that no negotiations have been held between the two clubs for the transfer of the highly-talented goal poacher.

“Now, we do not want the player transferred to any club, but perhaps in the future, we will think about it,” Aubynn told OnTime Spor.

“There are no negotiations between Medeama and Al Ahly regarding Jonathan Sowah, and we have several clubs interested in the player, including Egyptian and European clubs.”

Medeama SC lost the first game of the CAF Champions League group stage to Al Ahly SC at the Al-Salam Stadium last weekend, and will host Algerian side CR Belouizdad in the second fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, December 1, 2023.
