CAF Champions League: Medeama will qualify to the quarterfinals - Evans Adotey

Medeama head coach, Augustine Evans Adotey is optimistic his outfit will qualify from the group stage of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions are in Group D of the CAF Champions League alongside defending champions Al Ahly SC, Young Africans from Tanzania and Tunisian side CR Belouizdad.

The Yellow and Mauves will open the group stage campaign against Al Ahly SC at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

With most connoisseurs of African football labelling Medeama as the whipping boys considering the level of the others clubs in the group, coach Evans Adotey believes his charges will be able to make it out of the group stage.

“We must make sure we advance to the quarterfinals because this is a league competition not a knockout round”, he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM in an interview.

He indicated that Medeama will go the Al-Salam Stadium and return to Ghana with a positive result against Al Ahly SC.

“Going into the Al Ahly SC game, I want to keep a clean sheet, attack and defend gallantly and make sure we don’t lose.

“I’m confident that we won’t lose in Egypt [against Al Ahly SC] and am preparing my boys well to ensure that we return home with a positive result. I firmly believe we will play in the quarterfinals and nothing can threaten my confidence”, he added.

Medeama SC will travel to Egypt on Wednesday afternoon to prepare for the Al Ahly SC cracker on Saturday evening.
