2026 FIFA WCQ: Ghana played better than Comoros – Chris Hughton

Ghana played better than Comoros - Chris Hughton

Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton says his side should have beaten Comoros at the Omnisports Stadium on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

Ghana were shocked by Comoros with a 1:0 defeat in second game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Moroni.

Speaking at a post-match interview, Chris Hughton indicated that Ghana played better than Comoros and did not deserve to lose the game.

“Congratulations to Comoros for the victory. In my opinion over the 90 minutes, we were the better team. I thought Ghana we were the better team. We conceded what we regarded as a poor goal to concede and we were not able to capitalise on the chances that we had.

“So this was not a game where Comoros won this game comfortably. Over the 90 minutes, we were the better team but unfortunately, we were not able to put away the chances that we created,” Coach Chris Hughton said.

Ghana ended the first two games of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with three points, winning against Madagascar and a defeat to Comoros.
