Police arrest one suspect over attack on coach Maxwell Konadu in Sunyani

The Ghana Police Service have announced the arrest of one suspect in connection to the attack on Nsoatreman FC coach Maxwell Konadu.

The Police say the suspect identified as Seidu Musah popularly known as Gaswan has been arrested after the attack on Sunday, November 19.

“The Police have arrested suspect Seidu Musah alias Gaswan in connection with the attack on the coach of Nsoatreman FC, Mr. Maxwell Konadu.

“Suspect Seidu Musah is currently in Police custody assisting the investigation while efforts are still ongoing to get the other suspect arrested to face justice, and we will surely get him”, a Police statement reads.

The attack on Maxwell Konadu occured during Bofoakwa Tano FC game against Nsoatreman FC in week eleven of the Ghana Premier League at the Coronation Park in Sunyani on Sunday.

Coach Konadu was allegedly beaten mercilessly by two suspects after the game in Sunyani with the Police on manhunt for the other suspect.

The astute tactician was rushed to the hospital for treatment with reports indicating that he is currently in a stable condition.

The Ghana Football Association has also placed a temporary ban on Bofoakwa Tano FC from using Coronation Park in Sunyani for their home matches due to the attack.

Bofoakwa Tano FC gained promotion to the Ghana Premier League this season after defeating Techiman Eleven Wonders in a playoff fixture.
