Raphael Dwamena's body arrives in Ghana for burial

The mortal remains of late Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena has arrived in Ghana for the final funeral rites.

Dwamena’s body arrived in at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Friday night with some friends and family in attendance.

In a sombre ceremony, prayers were offered with tributes paid as the family received the body in preparation of the final funeral rites.

Former footballer Godwin Attram alongside officials from the Ghana Football Association and relatives gathered at the airport to receive the body of the late Ghanaian striker.

Dwamena collapsed and died during a league game in Albania last weekend.

The former Real Zaragoza attacker suffered a heart attack during the 24th minute of KF Egnatia game against FK Partizani in the Albanian Super Cup.

The arrival of Dwamena’s remains marked a poignant moment as the football community and loved ones prepare to bid farewell to the talented striker.

A minute silence was held in honour of Dwamena before Ghana’s 1-0 win over Madagascar at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
