2023 CAF Awards: Evelyn Badu bags player of the year nomination

Ghana midfielder, Evelyn Badu has been nominated for the best women’s player of the year in the 2023 CAF Awards scheduled for next month in Morocco.

The 21-year old is the only Ghanaian footballer nominated in the category following his magnificent form for Norwegian club Avaldsnes IL and the Black Queens of Ghana.

Badu has had a spectacular form for the Black Queens since Switzerland tactician Nora Häuptle took over the mantle in January, 2023.

She has been scoring from all cylinders for Ghana with the Black Queens yet to taste a defeat since Nora Häuptle was appointed the head coach.

Evelyn Badu will be competing with FC Barcelona and Nigeria superstar Asisat Oshiola, AS FAR and Morocco midfield dynamo Fatima Tagnaout, Glasgow City FC and South Africa winger Linda Motlhalo and host of others.

Evelyn Badu’s wonderful performance for the Black Queens has cushioned the team to qualify to the third round of the Olympic Games qualifiers and are still in contention to qualify for next year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
