CAFWCL: Ampem Darkoa Ladies to face Sporting Casablanca in semifinal

 

Ghanaian side, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will face Sporting Casablanca from Morocco in the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeated Huracanes FC from Equatorial Guinea in the last group stage fixture on Sunday to book a place in the semifinals of the competition.

The reigning Ghana Women’s Premier League champions whipped Huracanes FC 3:1 with Tracy Twum netting a brace.

The sensational Tracy Twum broke the deadlock for the reigning Ghana Women’s Premier League champions in the 8th from a sublime free-kick that was too difficult for the Huracanes FC goalkeeper to save.

Huracanes FC came in stronger in the early minutes of the second half for the equaliser, hitting the crossbar on several occasions but Ampem Darkoa Ladies managed to cool down the pressure from the Equatorial Guinea side.

In the 72nd minute, Tracy Twum increased the lead for Ampem Darkoa Ladies by connecting a rebound before Gnabekwan N-Yanyimaya had the third goal in the 88th minute.

Ebenya Esombe pulled a consolation in the dying embers of the stoppage-time for Huracanes FC.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies finished the grout stage as the leaders of group B with six points and will face Sporting Casablanca from Morocco who were second in group A.

The winner will face either AS FAR from Morocco or Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
