CAFWCL: Ampem Darkoa Ladies beat Huracanes to reach semifinal

 

Ghanaian side, Ampem Darkoa Ladies secured a resounding 3:1 victory against Huracanes FC from Equatorial Guinea in the final group stage fixture of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

It was a brace from the indefatigable Tracy Twum and a goal from Gnabekwan N-Yanyimaya that ensured Ampem Darkoa Ladies clinched a victory against Huracanes FC to secure a ticket to the semifinal stage of the competition.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies went to the game with the determination to annihilate Huracanes FC to secure a qualification to the semifinal after a shameful defeat to AS Mande from Mali in the second group stage game.

Tracy Twum broke the deadlock for the reigning Ghana Women’s Premier League champions in the 8th from a sublime free-kick that was too difficult for the Huracanes FC goalkeeper to save.

Huracanes FC came in stronger in the early minutes of the second half for the equaliser, hitting the crossbar on several occasions, with Ampem Darkoa Ladies managing to cool down the pressure from the Equatorial Guinea side.

In the 72nd minute, Tracy Twum increased the lead for Ampem Darkoa Ladies by connecting a rebound before Gnabekwan N-Yanyimaya had the third goal in the 88th minute.

Ebenya Esombe pulled a consolation in the dying embers of the stoppage-time for Huracanes FC.

The game ended with Ampem Darkoa Ladies emerging as the winners, producing an enthralling performance.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies finished the group stage as leaders of their group with six points, securing them a qualification to the semifinal stage of the competition.
