Thomas Partey ruled out for rest of 2023; likely to miss the AFCON

Ghana international, Thomas Partey has been ruled out of action for the rest of 2023 due to a thigh injury.

This was after the 30-year old underwent a surgery to ascertain the duration of the injury.

Per the reports, Partey could miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast which is slated for January next year.

He had earlier suffered a groin injury but returned in October and featured in Ghana’s international friendly matches against Mexico and USA last month.

Partey played his last game for Arsenal in a league fixture against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium where the Gunners won by 1:0.

The Black Stars deputy skipper has already been ruled out of this month 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.

For Arsenal, Partey will miss league games against Burnley, Brentford, Wolves, Luton Town, Aston Villa, and Liverpool among a host of other games.

He is also expected to be out of the Champions League games against RC Lens and PSV.
