Bashiru Hayford confirms Hearts of Oak talks

Ghanaian gaffer, Bashiru Hayford has confirmed holding talks with Hearts of Oak for the coaching job.

Hearts of Oak currently has Martin Koopman as its head coach after his announcement prior to the start of the 2023/24 league season.

But the Dutch has been heavily criticized following the Phobians poor start to the season with some section of supporters calling for his sack.

Even though Martin Koopman is still in charge, Bashiru Hayford has revealed talks with some management members of the Ghanaian football powerhouse prior to their league game against Bibiani Goldstars at the Dun’s Park in the Western North Region.

“It’s true that Hearts of Oak contacted me and I have sent them my CV. The approach was made before their game against Bibiani Goldstars”, Bashiru Hayford told Kumasi-based Akoma FM in an interview.

He continued that, “If they [Hearts of Oak] believe the current coach is underperforming and therefore they need my service, I will be very happy to join them.”

The Phobians had a very sloppy start to the season but have been rejuvenated after thumping defending champions Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium and securing a crucial point against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale last weekend.

The former league champions are currently placing 10th on the league log with eleven points after nine matches, with seven points separating them and league leaders Aduana Stars.

Hearts of Oak’ next league fixture is against Legon Cities FC at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend…
