GFA to sack Chris Hughton as Black Stars coach

Irish tactician, Chris Hughton could be sacked as the Black Stars head coach following the poor performance of the team in recent matches.

According to reports, the 64-year old could lose his job as the Black Stars gaffer when he meet the Ghana Football Association on Thursday.

Hughton has been under-fire after Ghana shamefully lost to Mexico and USA during the October international break.

Ghana was beaten 2:0 by Mexico and 4:0 humiliation against USA in a friendly matches in the United States of America last month with the Black Stars performing abysmally in the two games.

It is believed that officials of the Ghana FA are in talks with the government to sack Chris Hughton before 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros next week.

The former Newcastle United manager has managed seven games since taking over the mantle as Black Stars coach, winning three, drawing two and losing two matches which came against Mexico and USA last month.

Chris Hughton was named the Black Stars head coach in February this year following the resignation of Otto Addo after a poor showing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Before his appointment, Hughton was serving as the Black Stars technical director under the tutelage of coach Otto Addo.

Ghana will begin the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros next week.
