Our target is winning the trophy - Ampem Darkoa Ladies' Linda Owusu

Ampem Darkoa Ladies midfielder, Linda Owusu Ansah says the aim of the team is to lift this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League trophy.

The Ghanaian side recorded a 2:1 victory against defending champions AS FAR in the first group stage game of the championship last Monday.

Coach Nana Adarkwa and his ladies will face Malian side AS Mande in the second group stage fixture later this evening.

A victory against AS Mande tonight will secure Ampem Darkoa Ladies a qualification to the semifinal stage of the competition.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of AS Mande clash tonight, Linda Owusu Ansah said they will go into the game with same determination of securing the victory to secure them a qualification to the semifinal stage.

“We were happy we won against AS FAR but that is not the target. We are aiming for the trophy, so we continue to fight”, she said.

She however called on the Ghanaian supporters in Ivory Coast to come to the stadium in their numbers to cheer them up against AS Mande.

“We were happy to see the Ghanaian fans in the stands. That is why we run to them after the goals and the game. They really boosted our morale, and I will urge them to come again as we face AS Mande”, she added.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies lead the group B table with three points ahead of AS FAR, AS Mande and Huracanes FC from Equatorial Guinea.
