Lions share spoils with Hearts of Oak in Hohoe

Hearts of Lions continued their winless run this season after a goalless stalemate against Hearts of Oak at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

It was a week five outstanding fixture that was postponed due to the Akosombo dam spillage which wrecked some parts of the Volta Region including Sogakope the home base of Hearts of Lions.

Prior to the game, Hearts of Lions have suffered defeat in their two games and needed a victory against a rejuvenated Hearts of Oak side to calm the nerves of their supporters.

For Hearts of Oak, coach Martin Koopman and his charges were in high confidence after beating defending champions Medeama at the Accra Sports Stadium and securing a draw against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale last weekend.

Both sides started the game with the zeal to secure all three maximum points, creating series of chances but failed to make good use of them.

The game ended in a goalless with Hearts of Lions clinching their eighth draw of the season after nine matches, losing just two.

And despite accumulating a point in today’s game, Hearts of Lions remain at the 18th position on the league log with just seven points while Hearts of Oak continue to sit at the 13th position with eleven points.

Hearts of Lions’ next game is against another struggling side Nations FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese with Hearts of Oak hosting Legon Cities FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
