Nurudeen Mohammed wins Kotoko player of the month award

Asante Kotoko defender, Yussif Nurudeen Mohammed has been named the club’s supporters’player of the month for October.

The central defender has been given the award following his spectacular performance for the club despite their sloppy start to the season.

Nurudeen Mohammed beat off competitions from two of his teammates to win the award organized by the Asante Kotoko supporters chapter, North America Circle 001.

He was given Gh¢4,000 among other souvenirs for winning the award which was presented to him before their game against Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi last Sunday.

Nurudeen Mohammed has so far become a core figure in the Asante Kotoko set-up since joining the club from RTU prior to the commencement of the 2023/24 league season, forming a good partnership with Henry Ansu.

Despite his impressive form, Asante Kotoko have been struggling this season, recording just two victories after nine matches.

The Porcupines have dropped to the 14th position on the league log after losing 1:0 to Dreams FC at home last weekend, with teenage midfielder Abdul Aziz Issah scoring the only goal from a sublime free-kick.

The defeat to Dreams FC escalated the situation as Asante Kotoko fans booed the players and officials of the club as a way of expressing their dissatisfaction with the performance of the team.

Asante Kotoko’s next game is against FC Samartex at the dreaded Nsenkyire Sports Complex in Samreboi this weekend.
