Daniel Kofi-Kyereh nears injury return

Ghana midfielder, Daniel Kofi-Kyereh is close to reaching his optimal condition after nine months of dealing with a severe cruciate ligament injury.

The 27-year old who currently plays for SC Freiburg in the German Bundesliga has been out of action after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with a terrible injury.

Providing update on the talented midfielder, SC Freiburg coach Christian Streich stated that Kofi-Kyereh has been engaging in running which is a significant step in his recovery journey.

“It’s better now. We’ll see that he no longer has any problems running,” Streich said.

The update suggest Kofi-Kyereh could make a return to action sooner than expected after showing promising signs of improvement.

Daniel Kofi-Kyereh joined SC Freiburg in June, 2022, scoring his first competitive goal for Freiburg in a league match against Mainz in October 2022.

Five days after his debut goal, Kofi-Kyereh went ahead to score his first goal in European football in a 2–0 win over FC Nantes in the group stage of the Europa League.

Kofi-Kyereh is expected to return to full recovery before the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast as Ghana will count on his talent in the tournament.
