We don't have a good striker in the Black Stars - Mohammed Alhassan

Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Mohammed Alhassan says it will be difficult for the Black Stars to make a meaningful impact in the 2023 AFCON due to lack of competent strikers in the team.

Ghana has been touted by many African football pundits as one of the countries favorite to win the tournament scheduled to commence in Ivory Coast on January 13, 2024.

Ghana is in the same group with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique with the Black Stars to open their account on January 14, 2024 against Cape Verde before engaging Egypt and Mozambique on January 18 and January 22, 2024.

Speaking in an interview, Mohammed Alhassan believes Ghana will have a tough campaign due to the lack of competent and deadly goal poachers in the team.

“It’s about time the technical team infuse some local players in the Black Stars. Truth be told, some home-based players are good and performing and needs to be involved in the team”, he said as scribed by FootballGhana.

“We don’t have any good striker upfront to bang in goals, so it will be difficult for Ghana at the AFCON. Partey and Kudus are the fulcrum of the team but they were missing against Mexico and USA and you don’t expect Partey to give his all because of injuries”, he added.
