Even Black Stars lack quality strikers - Koopman on Hearts of Oak goal-scoring problems

Hearts of Oak gaffer, Martin Koopman has labelled the club’s goal-scoring problem as a ‘national issue’ after his side drew goalless with FC Samartex on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

The Phobians failed to score again after FC Samartex held them to a goalless draw in week six of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The stalemate means Hearts of Oak have played five matches so far in the Ghana Premier League scoring just a goal.

Addressing the team’s goal-scoring problem after FC Samartex game, Martin Koopman stated that Hearts of Oak are not scoring because Ghana lack quality strikers.

“I’m not the problem here, it’s a national issue. Even the Black Stars don’t have wingers and strikers to score goals.

“Ghanaian players like holding onto the ball too much, and they need to develop.” He added.

Hearts of Oak currently find themselves at the 12th position on the Ghana Premier League log with five points after five games.
