Most of the Black Stars players are inexperienced - Jordan Ayew

The Black Stars has come under serious criticisms following the team’s recent poor performances.

The criticisms have even escalated after the Black Stars lost heavily to USA in an international friendly game at the Geodis Park in Nashville on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The four-time AFCON champions were trounced 4:0 by USA on Wednesday dawn with the Americans dominating the entire duration of the game.

Before the game, the Black Stars headed by former Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton, have been defeated 2:0 by Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

And with few weeks to the commencement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Ghanaians have begun expressing their dissatisfaction about the performance of the Black Stars, with some calling for the sacking of coach Chris Hughton.

But speaking after the USA defeat, Jordan Ayew who was the deputy skipper for Ghana in the game has pleaded for patience, stating that the Black Stars team is full of inexperienced players who will need time to develop.

“First of all, I feel like we need a bit of time because it is a new group with a lot of new players and most of the players are inexperienced so it is not easy but we are working on it because we know we don’t have time and these type of game is a reality check,” he said.

“We know our level but we have to keep working hard to get this equation together and learn how to play together but it will come with time but we also know that football does not need time so we are pushing hard and trying our best to better our performance as a team and with time, it will come”, he added…
