Jerome Opoku makes Ghana debut against USA

Defender Jerome Opoku has made his debut for Ghana in an international friendly game against the United States of America (USA) at the Geodis Park in Nashville on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The 24-year old had a late call-up to the Black Stars camp in USA alongside Kingsley Schindler and Stephan Ambrosius as replacements for Tariq Lamptey, Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku and Osman Bukari who pulled out of the Black Stars squad due to injury.

And after missing out of the Mexico friendly last Sunday at the Bank of America Stadium, Jerome Opoku has been given a starting berth against USA.

Opoku has been handed a starting berth following the absence of Celta Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo who sustained an ankle injury against Mexico last Sunday.

Jerome Opoku, a center-back currently plays his club football for Süper Lig club İstanbul Başakşehir, on loan from Primeira Liga club Arouca.
