I’m sorry – Chris Hughton apologizes for Black Stars defeat to USA

Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars has extended his heartfelt apology to Ghanaians following the stars heavy defeat to USA on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The Black Stars were hammered 4:0 by USA in an international friendly at the Geodis Park in Nashville on Wednesday dawn with the Americans dominating the entire duration of the game.

Before the match, Ghana had lost 2:0 to Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sunday and needed to make amends against Christian Pulisic-led USA team.

Giovanni Reyna scored a brace, with Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun adding their names to the score sheet in the match played at the GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

Speaking after the game, Chris Hughton who was tasting his second defeat since taking over the Black Stars head coach job nine months ago, stated that he must be blamed for the Black Stars abysmal showdown against USA.

“I’m very sorry, and I take responsibility for the poor performance against the USA,” Hughton expressed, underlining his commitment to improving the team’s form and working towards a brighter future.

He then affirmed his belief in his suitability for the job, stating, “If you ask me if I feel like I’m the right person for this job, the answer is yes.”
