Chris Hughton disappointed with Black Stars 4:0 defeat to USA

Ghana coach, Chris Hughton is highly disappointed with the Black Stars heavy defeat to USA on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The Black Stars were tamed 4:0 by USA in an international friendly at the Geodis Park in Nashville with the Americans dominating the entire duration of the game.

Giovanni Reyna scored a brace, with Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun adding their names to the score sheet in the match.

But speaking to pressmen after the game, Chris Hughton indicated that the Black Stars is in a tough period but strongly believes the team will come good.

“I’ve also been involved in the game long enough to know that sometimes you go through what we regard as bad periods to come out better”, he said.

To the 63-year old, the Black Stars performed abysmally against USA but believes it will serve as a catalyst for improvement in subsequent assignments.

The former Newcastle United manager was of strong conviction that the Black Stars will be stronger in a time to come, stating that he is more disappointed with the team’s recent poor performances.

“I understand that disappointment. I can tell you, nobody is more disappointed than I am.”
