Medeama adopt Baba Yara Stadium for CAF Champions League group stage

Ghanaian champions, Medeama SC will move their home matches in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi according to Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

The Mauve and Yellow played the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, winning all their two home matches against Remo Stars from Nigeria and Guinean giants Horoya AC.

But Nhyira FM is reporting that management of the Tarkwa-based club have decided to move their CAF Champions League group stage matches from Cape Coast Sports Stadium to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

It is believed that the T&A Stadium in Tarkwa will not be ready to host Medeama in the group stage of the CAF Champions League hence the decision to move their home games to Kumasi.

Medeama will be playing in the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time in the club’s history after beating Horoya AC in the final phase of the preliminary round.

The defending champions of the Ghana Premier League are in Group D of the CAF Champions League alongside Egyptian giants Al Ahly, CR Belouizdad from Algeria and Young Africans from Tanzania.

The CAF Champions League has been scheduled to commence on November 24, 2023 and end on May 26, 2024.
