John Yeboah earns call-up to Ecuador national team

Ghanaian winger John Yeboah has been given a call-up to the Ecuador national team for the upcoming assignments.

The 23-year old, born in Germany to a Ghanaian father and Ecuadorian mother, has made a decision to represent the South American country at the international level despite talks to play for Ghana.

This is Yeboah’s maiden invitation to the Ecuador national team following his impressive form for Polish top-flight side Raków Częstochowa.

Even though he has taken the decision to play for Ecuador, John Yeboah has featured for the Germany youth sides.

His decision comes as a loss to Ghana after talks to have him in the Black Stars jersey just like Tariq Lamptey and Inaki Williams.

Yeboah has been phenomenal for Raków Częstochowa in the Polish elite league, scoring a goal with two assists after seven matches.

He is expected to replicate his fine-form for Ecuador against Bolivia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Thursday, October 12, and a match against Colombia on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
