We want the GFA elections suspended - Omane Acheampong

Ghanaian gospel musician and member of the Ghana Football Stakeholders Forum, Nicholas Omane Acheampong has implored the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to suspend the upcoming elections.

The elections scheduled for Thursday, October 5 face series of issues with some individuals including George Afriyie filing interlocutory injunctions against the elections.

And according to Omane Acheampong, the GFA must consider suspending the elections until all court cases are resolved to bring sanity to Ghana football.

Speaking at the Ghana Football Stakeholders Forum’s demonstration against the GFA in Accra on Wednesday, the renowned gospel musician also called on the Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif to step in and ensure the GFA elections is suspended.

GFA Elections: George Afriyie goes to court over his disqualification

“Kurt Okraku don’t want anyone to contest him for the GFA presidential seat that’s why they have disqualified George Afriyie. We want the Sports Minister to step in to ensure the GFA elections is suspended until all issues are resolved”, he said.

Meanwhile, the GFA has moved its Secretariat to Tamale for the elections with Kurt Okraku going unopposed as his main competitor for the GFA presidential seat, George Afriyie has been disqualified for not providing the required number of signatures to support his candidacy.

The Planners FC bankroller has had his appeal to challenge his disqualification dismissed by the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

He has further filed notice of application for injunction on the association’s elections…
