FIFA officials arrive in Tamale ahead of GFA elective congress

A delegation from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) have arrived in Ghana for the Ghana Football Association’s Elective Congress on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

The contingent includes the Director of Member Associations for Africa at FIFA, Gelson Fernandes.

Others are former Switzerland International in the company of Silmara Sousa, Development Program Coordinator, FIFA Member Associations Africa and Ahmed Harraz, Senior Manager FIFA Member Associations Governance Services, FIFA Member Association Governance.

The trio who arrived in Accra on Tuesday, touched down in Tamale Wednesday morning ahead of the congress on Thursday.

The Ghana Football Association will go to the polls on Thursday to elect new executives to steer the affairs of the association for the next four years.

Apart from the position of President, delegates will elect representatives of the Premier League, Division One League with Dr. Gifty Oware Mensah going unopposed as representative of Women’s Football on the Executive Council.

The contest will spread through the 10 regions where regional delegates are expected to elect their chairmen after which two will be elected to serve on the Executive Council.
