Black Queens thrash Rwanda in second leg fixture

The Black Queens of Ghana trounced their counterpart from Rwanda 5:0 in the second leg fixture of the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Before the game, the Black Queens had thrashed the Rwandans 7:0 in the first leg at Kigali, making the second leg a mere formality.

And despite winning the first leg by 7:0, coach Nora Häuptle had her ladies dismantling the Rwandans at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the Black Queens dominating the game throughout.

Alice Kusi bagged a hat-trick with Evelyn Badu and the indefatigable Stella Nyamekye also having their names on the score-sheet.

The victory means the Black Queens have eliminated Rwanda from the qualifiers with 12:0 on aggregate.

After dismantling Rwanda, the Black Queens will now face Namibia in the next round of qualifiers, as they continue their quest in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
