Give Inaki Williams a new role - Arhinful to Black Stars technical team

Former Ghana international, Augustine Arhinful has entreated the Black Stars technical team to reconsider handing Inaki Williams a new role in the team.

The Athletic Club forward has played nine matches for Ghana without netting a single goal for the West African country since switching nationality last year.

This has sparked a debate in the local media as to whether Inaki Williams should continue leading the country’s attack considering the striking options available to coach Chris Hughton.

But Augustine Arhinful believes Inaki Williams is exceptional whenever playing for Athletic Club in the Spanish Laliga because he is often deployed from the flanks and not as the leading striker.

To Arhinful, Inaki Williams has not been able to replicate his fine-form for Ghana because he lack supplies whenever deployed as the center forward, hence the need to change his position in the national team.

“The handlers of the national team should identify a proper position to play him because his club does not play him as a centre forward,” he told Graphic Sports.

“I wish Coach Chris Hughton had watched Inaki yesterday (against Cadiz). Most of the time he plays from the right, or when his brother, Nico, is playing, they interchange positions from left to right,” Arhinful remarked.
