John Mahama applaud Black Stars after comeback win

Former President John Dramani Mahama, has commended the Black Stars for its yeoman’s job exhibited in their comeback win over the Central African Republic on Thursday.

Coach Chris Hughton and his men who needed a win at all cost were shocked by their opponent just within 25 minutes of play at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The crucial game was the last group matches of the qualifying round to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.

However a spirited performance from the stars saw them fight back strongly to win the game thanks to goals from Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah to record a 2-1 win.

Mr. Mahama reacting to the result of the match took to his Facebook page and applauded the team, describing their victory as “great” comeback.

“Congratulations to our Black Stars. Great come back from a goal down and a spectacular victory against CAR to book a well-deserved spot in the 2024 AFCON” he posted.

The NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2024 general also challenged the Black Stars to go all out and win the ultimate in next January in the AFCON tournament proper.

“You’ve made Ghana proud again! Keep shining! Let’s go for gold in the AFCON,” John Mahama said.
