‘We could’ve performed better despite winning’ – Black Stars coach

Head Coach of the Black Stars Chris Hughton has admitted that the team underperformed despite their victory against the Central African Republic.

His comment comes after the team’s 2-1 victory over their opponent in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Two goals from Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah at the Baba Yara Stadium ensure the stars came from behind to win the clash.

The hard-fought win also propelled Ghana to accumulate 12 points to top its Group E and sail through to the next AFCON slated for Cote D’Ivoire.

Speaking to pressmen after the game, Chris Hughton observed that though his side got their desired results the performance was not convincing.

“I think we showed a good level today. In the end, we could have been more comfortable.

“We could have played better in the first half but sometimes you have to wait for the game to open up,” the gaffer admitted.

Ghana who now qualifies for their 10th consecutive AFCON last won the continental title in 1982.

They will hope to end their trophy drought having lost three finals -1992, 2010, and 2015.

The draw for the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire will be held next month October.
