Black Stars warned against complacency

Founder and Owner of Division One League side, Uncle T United, Isaac Tetteh, has cautioned the Black Stars against being complacency in their AFCON qualifier game this evening.

The Black Stars who top its group with 9 points need a win against the Central African Republic today to ensure qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cote D’Ivoire.

The now or never clash will kick off at 4:00 PM at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

A qualification berth will see Ghana achieving a feat of participating in 10 straight AFCON tournaments since Egypt 2006 tournament.

Mr. Tetteh is cautious of the Central African Republicans threat that could wreck the ambitions of the Black Stars.

According to him, the stars must eschew complacency from the game because there is no more minus in football.

“Look, it is time we all know that you cannot underrate any country when it comes to football… so just focus, plan and make sure that our plans are executed to get what we want from it, and that is the best thing, but we shouldn’t show shoulders to say that we know better.

But if you underrate them saying, let’s talk player for player – I play here, they don’t play here … No, that era has past,” he stated.

The business tycoon believes with the stiffer competition the Central African Republicans gave Ghana in the first leg tie which ended 1-1, they cannot be a walkover for the Black Stars.

Isaac Tetteh concluded and charged the four-time African champions to go all out in today’s game to redeem their image with a commanding and resounding victory.

“This is the time they have to redeem their image for the whole world to see that match [first leg] was a mistake, but now this is the game,” he advices.


The Managing Director of TT. Brothers Limited, a marketing and distribution company of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages offered the advice on Wednesday, September 6.

Although Ghana’s coach Chris Hughton has said the stars cannot afford to lose the all-important clash, Raoul Savoy – the Central African Republic boss is confident his team have what it takes to surprise Ghana.
