King Faisal vs GFA: Court adjourns case again

The Accra High Court has adjourned the injunction application against the 2023 GFA elections to September 19, 2023.

The injunction application filed by King Faisal Football Club has been adjourned during a virtual court session on Wednesday, September 6 with both sides’s legal representatives agreeing to reconvene on September 19.

Due to this, the process for the 2023 GFA elections remain suspended until the hearing of the case.

The GFA elections was scheduled for September 27 in Tamale with the incumbent Kurt Okraku facing a challenge from George Afriyie for the GFA presidential seat.

King Faisal have filed a complaint against the 2023 GFA elections, praying to the court to direct the GFA to hold elections for the National League Clubs, Regional Football Association and constituents bodies before that of the GFA Presidential seat and the Executive Council.

King Faisal also want the continuation of the pause because they believe the declaration of the opening of nominations for the election of GFA President before elections are held for the representatives of the Executive Committee is wrong and unlawful.

King Faisal aver that per article 30, 31(1), 32(2)(q) and 37(1) of the GFA Statutes 2019, the defendant is in deep breach of its own statutes.
