Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is not part of the Ghana squad to face Central African Republic in the 2023 AFCON qualifier.

The 19-year old was left out of the Black Stars 25-man squad invited by coach Chris Hughton despite having a wonderful debut for Leicester City in the English Championship last weekend.

Getsportsgh.com understands Fatawu Issahaku had a late call-up to the Black Stars for the Central African Republic showdown but Leicester City have rejected the invitation.

According to information reaching Getsportsgh.com, Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca want the winger to settle at the club after his signing few days ago hence the club’s refusal to grant Issahaku the approval to join the Black Stars camp for the Central African Republic game.

It is believed that talks are still ongoing between Leicester City and the Ghana Football Association for Fatawu Issahaku to join the Black Stars camp for the Central African Republic fixture.

Fatawu Issahaku joined Leicester City on loan from Sporting Club in Portugal five days ago with option to make the deal permanent after the 2023/24 league season.

Ghana will host Central African Republic in the last game of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
