Arteta confirms Thomas Partey's injury blow

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Thomas Partey has sustained an injury at training.

Partey was not part of Arsenal squad that played against Manchester United at the Emirates Sports Stadium due to a reported groin injury.

Despite his absence, Arsenal went ahead to win the game by 3:1 with late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus.

Confirming the injury situation of the Ghanaian midfielder, Arteta stated, “It doesn’t look good. We need a few more tests, but he felt something in training, and I think he will be out for a couple of weeks. He had the capacity to play in various positions, and today was a game for him to play in a different position, but he is not available.”

Due to his injury, Partey will miss Ghana’s 2023 AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on September 7, 2023.

He was excluded from the Black Stars squad for the crucial Central African Republic fixture in Kumasi.
