Hearts of Oak goalie Ofori Antwi injured; Check when he will return

Eric Ofori Antwi sustains an injury

Hearts of Oak have been dealt a big blow ahead of the 2023/24 football season with the absence of one its key players Eric Ofori Antwi.

Eric Ofori Antwi popular known as ‘Alawa’ will miss the initial stages of the team’s season due to injury he sustain.

He picked up the injury in one of the team’s ongoing pre-season training season at the Pobiman Sports Complex.

Getsportstgh.com, can confirm that the former Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko stopper will be sideline for three months.

It means, Antwi will miss the first 12 matches for Hearts of Oak in the first round of the Ghana Premier League.

He will however be expecting to return in the first week of December prior to the sides’ week 13 away fixture to Aduana Stars.

In his absence, fellow goalkeeper Richard Arthur and his deputies will mount charge for the goalpost.

Heart’s of Oak who is expected to begin with its second phase pre-season in Koforidua will start the new season with a game against RTU.

The 27-year-old Eric Ofori Antwi joins the Phobians on a three-year contract after parting ways with Legon Cities FC after the 2021-22 season ended.

As a former Ghana youth goalie, he has previously played for Hearts’ sworn rivals Asante Kotoko SC from August 2014 to January 2017.

He was transferred to Kotoko after excelling in his maiden Ghana Premier League season with newly-promoted Amidaus Professionals in the 2011-12 campaign.

Antwi was the first choice goalkeeper for Ghana during the FIFA U20 World Cup which was held in Turkey in 2013.
