‘Kind-hearted Bernard Doudu is unforgettable – ERFA, others pay tributes

Late Doudo died on Tuesday following illness

The Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA) together with it’s Regional Referees Association, has eulogies late Class 1 referee Bernard Doudu.

Mr. Duodu, was confirmed dead on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, after a protracted illness.

Late Benard Duodu understands he was combatting illness following an accident he had two years ago when vacating Kade to Cape Coast for lectures.

Tributes have since been pouring in thick and fast as the football fraternity mourns his sudden demise.

Eastern Regional Referees Association and its mother association, the Ghana Referees Association said they were “stunned to hear” the death of Bernard Doudu.


They used several adjectives to describe how they felt about the late officiating official as well as his total embodiment.

“He was a kind-hearted member and a football person through and through,” the Eastern Regional Referees Association and the Ghana Referees Association eulogies.

On their part, the Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA), also offers its condolences to the football fraternity, family, and friends.

It described late “Bernard Doudu” a “beloved” referee who was “excellent” in referring.

“Undoubtedly, we have relinquished an incredible soul and he will forever not be forgotten. May he rest in peace!” the tributes added.

The late Bernard Doudu was a trained teacher at Atobriso near Asuom and a Sports Secretary for Atobriso Circuit in the Kwaebibirem Municipality.

He attained his professional refereeing license in 2017 and ceased to function in his early 30’s following his excellent attributes.

Many refers to him as an epitome of a ‘no nonsense referee’ who handled tension matches with ease due to his unwillingness to temper justice from indiscipline athletes.

Mr. Doudo has no wife but is survived by a child.
