EXCLUSIVE: Former Dreams FC captain complete move to Karela United

Ex-captain for Ghana Premier League side – Dreams FC, Maxwell Arthur, has completed a move to fellow premier league side Karela United on a free transfer, can confirmed.

According to Angel FM/TV’s Shadrack Essien, the versatile player completed the move to the Western Region-based club after fruitful negations.

He officially signed a two-year contract on Monday, August 28, 2023, having fully signed all paper works with Karela United.

Maxwell Arthur

Maxwell Arthur who served the ‘Still Believe’ club wholeheartedly as captain left the Ghanaian FA Cup champions in June following mutual termination of his stay at the club.

Arthur, announcing his departure from the club some months ago said, “It is with mixed emotions that I announce my departure from the club after six wonderful years.

“I have reached a mutual agreement with the club to terminate my contract and pursue a new challenge in my career.

“I want to thank everyone who has been part of this amazing journey with me. l have learned so much from you all and I have grown as a player and as a person,” the long-serving captain indicated in a statement.

He has since been clubless despite interest from several clubs both locally and internationally.

However, after contact from Karela United, Maxwell Arthur and his camp deem fit of the direction of the Ghana Premier League side and decided to join its hierarchy.

The defender cum midfielder is expected to team up with his yet-to-be teammates in Tamale where they are currently having their pre-season training ahead of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Maxwell Arthur, before leaving Dreams FC spent six years with the club after graduating from the team’s youth side to the senior team in 2016/17 season.

He made his senior debut for the club on June 29, in a 2-0 win against New Edubiase United in the Ghana Premier League after coming on as a substitute for Aaron Amoah.

His performance earned him a call-up to other national teams including the U-20 and U-23 teams’ respectively in different competitions.
