Asante Kotoko trio refuse to terminate contracts, want to fight for positions – Check them

Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko are reshaping their squad for the season ahead with the club offloading uninspiring players to make room for new additions. can exclusively report that three of the players have refused to terminate their contracts with Kotoko despite being deemed surplus to requirements.

The three players, understands are Clinton Opoku, Ernest Osei Poku and Solomon Sarfo Taylor.

According to sources, the trio are not willing to leave Asante Kotoko, asking for chance to fight for positions at the club in the forthcoming league season.

Ernest Osei Poku joined Asante Kotoko in August, 2022 on three-year deal on free transfer but has failed to live up to the billing since joining the club.

The midfielder has two years left on his contract with Asante Kotoko but it believes the Ghanaian football powerhouse want to offload him before the 2023/24 league season commence.

With Clinton Opoku, the youngster has a year left on his contract with the Porcupines after joining the club on three-year deal in September, 2021.

He was highly tipped to reach the full potential of his career at Asante Kotoko but couldn’t leave up to expectations due to injuries.

Sarfo Taylor started finding his form at the latter part of last season but coach Prosper Narteh Ogum believes the striker is not part of his plans for the upcoming league season.

The former Karela United talisman joined Asante Kotoko on two-and-half year deal in March, 2021 after stint in Europe.

Taylor was signed to Asante Kotoko as replacement for Kwame Opoku who left for Algerian side USM Alger.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko have officially parted ways with Maxwell Agyemang, Mohammed Alhassan, Dickson Afoakwa, Samuel Boateng, Joseph Amoako and Charles Owusu in the ongoing transfer window.

And with all these departures, Asante Kotoko have officially announced the capturing of Yahaya Dawuni, Nanabayin Amoah, Andrews Ntim Manu, Samuel Asamoah, Yussif Nurudeen Mohammed, Henry Ansu, Bernard Somuah and Kalo Quattara.
