GFA allocates $105,000 package to support Ghanaian clubs in Africa

GFA has reiterated it's commitment to support club's in Africa

The Ghana Football Association has improved its financial assistance allocated to Ghanaian club’s that represent the country in CAF’s inter-club competition on the continent.

According to the GFA, team’s that represents the country in both the CAF champions league and confederation will earn $70,000 combine.

This means, winner of the league and the FA will both earn $35,000 each as financial backing to earmark their campaign.

That, notwithstanding, an additional $35,000 will also be allocated to each of the two clubs respectively should they progress to the subsequent round of the competitions.

As such, the eventual champions of the Women’s Premier League will also received $35,000 to assist its campaign in the WAFU B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Financial allocation for club’s to participate in Africa

These was announced by GFA boss Kurt Okraku on Tuesday, August 29, during the official inauguration of the 2023/24 Ghana football season in Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.

With the new development, there has seen an improvement in the financial assistance provided for Medeama SC, Dreams FC and Ampem Darkoa currently representing Ghana in Africa inter-club competitions

Medeama SC and Dreams FC whose eligiblity to compete in Africa came after winning both the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup received $30,000 each.

Ampem Darkoa were also dashed $20,000 for its ongoing campaign in the WAFU B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Speaking at the launch, GFA boss, Kurt Okraku, said, the financial support is to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with playing in the CAF Inter club competitions.

He noted the support of the association is expected to cushion the club and to urge them to accomplish its targets in Africa

The GFA among the many packages also announced GH¢ 500,000 as the prize money for the forthcoming league season in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

Prize money for first ten teams in the GPL

Meanwhile, the runners up team will also receive GH¢200,000, whiles the third-placed team will also pocket GH¢100,000.

Kurt Okraku, whiles announcing the prize money said, clubs that finish from 4th to 10th will also be awarded some cash at the end of the campaign.

These club’s will be receiving some cash ranging from Gh¢ 80,000, GH¢ 70,000, GH¢ 60,000, GH¢ 50,000, GH¢ 40,000, GH¢ 30, 000 and GH¢ 20,000 in that order.
