Ghanaian Players Abroad: Alfred Duncan, Hafiz Konkoni scores as others excel

With the current 2023/24 football season underway, some Ghanaian footballers keeps raising the flag of country the high with their impressive performance week-in and week-out., brings to you detailed report of performance of Ghanaian players who exceled for their respective clubs.

In Malaysia, Ghanaian striker, Richmond Boakye netted a hat-trick for Selangor in his sides’ 11-2 away win over Selantan on Friday in the Malaysia Super League.

The 30-year-old who scored three times lasted the entire 90 minutes. His goals propelled him to increase his goal tally to five in the ongoing campaign.

Black Stars winger, Osman Bukari played the entire 90 minutes for RedStar Belgrade in their 3-2 away lost to FK Vozdovac in the Serbian Super League.

The game which was a week 5 fixture became the sides first defeat of the season. They currently occupy the second position with 12 points.

Osman have scored 3 goals and provided two assists so far in the 2023/24 Serbian Super League.


Elsewhere in the Switzerland, former Accra Hearts of Oak forward, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh played 72mins for FC Zürich in their 1:1 home draw with ST Gallen in the Swiss Super League. His performance earns him 6.7 rating.

In same match, Black Stars goalkeeper, Lawrence Ati-Zigi also lasted 90 minutes and conceded a goal for ST Gallen.

He has now conceded 5 goals in 5 games keeping no clean sheet. He was rated 6.2.


Ibrahim Mustapha was impressive for his side LASK, as they defeated Zrinjski 2-1 in the first leg of the Europa League final qualification round.

A good result in the second leg next week will see Ibrahim Mustapha’s LASK in the Europa League group stages this season.

Former WAFA man, Augustine Boakye saw his marching orders in Wolfsberger’s AC 2-1 home defeat to Salzburg in the week 5 fixtures. Boakye was shown the red card for a second bookable offense.

For LASK, 23-year-old Ibrahim Mustapha played minutes for his side’s 2-0 home win over Austria Vienna in the Austria Bundesliga.


Former Bechem United attacker, Hafiz Wuntah Konkoni who scored on his debut in the league for Young Africans in their 5-0 home win against Kinondoni MC in the week one fixture was on target over the weekend.

He Scored again on Saturday in the CAF Champions League for Young Africans when they defeated ASAS of Djibouti 5-1 to qualify to the next stage of the competition on 7-1 aggregate.


Black Stars striker Jordan Ayew was phenomenal as he lasted 90 minutes and also provided an assist for his club Crystal Palace Football Club in their 1:1 away draw with Brentford.

He provided his assist in the 76th minute for Andersen to score the equalizer to make the score line 1:1 to win a point for his club. It was his second assists of the season after 3 matches.

He was rated 8.0 following his impressive performance coupled with the assist.

His fellow countryman, Jeffrey Schlupp also played 71 minutes for Crystal Palace and was rated 6.7.

Palace now occupy the 11th position on the league table with 4 points after 3 matches.

At the Emirate stadium, Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Partey played 56 minutes for his club Arsenal in their disappointing 2:2 home draw with Fulham in the English Premier League. He was rated 7.5.

They are now on the 5th position with 7 points after 3 matches.


Abdul Majeed Waris played 75 minutes for his club Anorthosis Famagusta in their 2:0 away win over Othellos Attienou in the week two fixtures of the Cyprus Division One.

They are first on the league table with 6 points after 2 matches.


In the Belgium Pro League, Isaac Nuhu was in a superb and excellent form as he lasted 85 minutes and also scored for his club KAS Eupen in their 3:1 home win over OH Leuven in the week 5 fixtures.

His goal, which was the second goal of the match for his club came in the 50th minute. It was his first goal of the season together with 2 assists after 5 matches. He was rated 7.6.

They are currently fourth on the league table with 10 points after 5 matches.


Ghana defender Patrick Kpozo was in a superb form as he enjoyed the entire 90 minutes for his club FC Baník Ostrava in their 2:0 home win over SK Dynamo České Budějovice in the Czech Republic Liga 1 round six fixtures.

With his splendid performance, he was rated 8.0. His side are 11th on the league table with 7 points after 6 matches.


in the Russian Premier League, Joel Fameyeh came from the bench to score for Rubin Kazan in the stoppage time to end a 2-2 draw against Dynamo Moscow. His side currently occupy the 13th position.


Inaki Williams played 90 minutes for Athletic Bilbao as they thumbed Real Betis 4-2 in the Spanish La Liga. He provided the side’s third goal in the first half.

Joseph Aidoo was also in full action for Celta Vigo in their 1-0 home lost to Real Madrid.

AT the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, Baba Iddrisu was in full action for Almeria in their 1-1 draw away draw against Cadiz.


Defender, Alidu Seidu played full 90 minutes as Clermont Foot poor star of the season continues with a 1-0 home defeat to FC Metz. The defeat leaves his side at the bottom of the French Ligue 1 table after three matches.

Elsewhere at the Parc de Princes in Paris, Midfielder, Salis Abdul Samed enjoyed 45 minutes as Lens suffered a 3-1 defeat to champions PSG


Alfred Duncan scores and provided an assist for Fiorentina in their dramatic 2-2 draw against Lecce on Sunday at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence.

Later in the evening, Caleb Ekuban was used as a sub in Genoa’s in 1-0 shocking away win over Lazio.


Christopher Antwi-Adjei enjoyed 32 minutes for Bochum in their 1-1 draw against Dortmund in in Bundesliga on Saturday.  Braydon Marvin Manu also lasted for 66 minutes for Darmstadt in their 4-1 home humiliation to Union Berlin.


In the Danish Super League, Ibrahim Osman played 81 minutes for Nordsjaelland in their 3-0 home win over Midtylland.


Black Stars winger, Bernard Tekpetey was on the target for Ludogorets in their 5-0 home win against Beroe.  In Asia, in the Chinese Super League, Wakaso Mubarak was in full action for Shenzhen in their 2-1 defeat to Shandong Taishan.
