CAF Champions League: Medeama edge out Remo Stars to reach final stage

Medeama advance to the next stage after 3-2 penalty shootout

Medeama SC have advanced to the final stage qualifying round of the CAF Champions League despite losing 1-0 to Remo Stars in their return leg clash played in Nigeria.

The Yellow and Mauve who are Ghana’s sole representative in the CAF champions league now qualified after edging out their Nigerian opponents.

The Ghanaian champions despite losing the second leg tie had to rely on penalty shootout to separate the two teams.

This was after Remo Stars had beaten Medeama SC 1-0 in regulation time to make the tie 1-1 on aggregate following their 1-0 defeat in Ghana last weekend.

Medeama SC managed to convert 3 of their spot kicks with Remo Stars also scoring 2.

Coach Evans Adotey’s side will now play Horoya FC from Guinea in their quest of competing in the group stage of the competition if they manage to scale over that stage.

Medeama SC are competing in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League for the first time in the clubs history after winning their domestic league.
