Injured Kotoko striker out for few weeks

He sustained the injury in the club's preseason

Asante Kotoko striker Isaac Oppong will be out of action for about two weeks according to multiple media reports.

The young attacker picked an injury during one of Asante Kotoko pre-season training sessions at Beposo in the Ashanti Region.

He returned to Kumasi few days ago for assessment and reports say he will be out for about two weeks.

His teammate Justice Blay who also sustained an injury at the pre-season training is expected to make a return at the beginning of next week.

Blay is expected to dazzle in the Asante Kotoko midfield next season after a topsy-turvy campaign last season.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko are working on the transfer of former King Faisal Football Club skillful midfielder Baba Yahaya.

Baba Yahaya’s move to Asante Kotoko is imminent with negotiations in advanced after impressing the club’s technical team at training.

He will join Asante Kotoko on free transfer after ending his stay at King Faisal Football Club.

Yahaya was exceptional for King Faisal last season despite the team’s failure to survive relegation.

He netted three goals for King Faisal in 33 appearances in the 2022/23 top-flight and also put up a spirited performance to help his outfit reach the finals of the FA Cup.

Baba Yahaya will join the Asante Kotoko midfield that boast of Richmond Lamptey, Justice Blay, Rashid Nortey, Eric Zeze and host of other talented players.
