RTU lose nine key players; check them

Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United (RTU) has seen its fair share of mass player exits in the ongoing transfer window ahead of 2023/24 Ghana Football season.

The Tamale-based club will miss the services of nine key players who left the club to pursue other interest elsewhere.

These players, departing the club were not only part of the playing body but were key starters of the ‘United We Stand’ club in the previous season.

They included Yaw Osei, Kwame Boakye, Manaf Umar, Nurudeen Mohammed Yussif, Issah Kuka, Stephen Badu Dunkwa, Roland Frimpong, Mathew Abayase and Sadat Mohammed.

Yaw Osei and Roland Frimpong left for fellow premier league side Bibiani GoldStars whiles Kwame Boakye moved to newly promoted side Nations FC.

With Manaf Umar, Nurudeen Mohammed Yussif and Mathew Abayase also joining Nsoatreman FC, Asante Kotoko and Accra Great Olympics respectively, Issah Kuka also moved to Hearts of Oak.

However, Stephen Badu Dunkwa and Sadat Mohammed left the club after they ended their stay.

With this development of almost an entirely starters of the team exiting, fan base of the Tamale-based club would have a cause to worry with the larger player turnover.

RTU who regain promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2021 following its relegation in 2013 finished 11th in the 2022/23 GPL season with 46 points.

They will begin their 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign against Hearts of Oak at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
