Kotoko yet to contact me for Baba Yahaya – Alhaji Grusah

Alhaji Grusah demands respect from Kotoko in pursuit of the player

Bankroller and Owner of Division One League side King Faisal, Alhaji Grusah, has disclosed that Kumasi Asante Kotoko are yet to contact him for out-of-contract midfielder Baba Yahaya.

The 21-year-old highly-talented midfielder whose contract expired at the end of the 2022/23 season is inching closer to joining their regional rivals, Kotoko in an imminent move.

As reported earlier in a publication carried by Getsportsgh.com Baba Yahaya had started training with the Porcupine Warriors following crucial talks between both parties.

“Barring any last-minute change, Baba Yahaya is expected to sign for Asante Kotoko in the next coming days on free transfer following the expiration of his contract with King Faisal Football Club,” Getsportsgh.com reported as quoted.

Speaking on the development in an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, monitored by this portal, the outspoken football administrator denied ever being contacted by Asante Kotoko for the service of the player.

“Baba Yahaya is training with Asante Kotoko as I speak but they haven’t talked to me about signing him. Even if his contract has expired, they should at least give me a call to express their interest in the player.

I have been told a certain agent that I don’t even know is leading the negotiations with Kotoko and I think that’s wrong,” says Alhaji Grusah.

According to the Black Stars management committee member, he is not against the player’s wish of pursuing his football dreams at Kotoko but the buying club should formally write to them.

“The player has the right to leave because his contract with us has run out, but they should respect me enough and give me a call. When I needed Danlad (Ibrahim) at King Faisal, I talked to the then management and they should do same.

I have suffered on Yahaya, he had a serious issue at CAF, but I managed to get him freed, so Kotoko should talk to me if they want to sign the player.”

Grusah who demanded Kotoko accord some respect and professionalism to him and their gesture emphasisied that “I know his contract has expired but…. it would only be respectful for Asante Kotoko to talk to me.”

The versatile midfielder whose impressive performance in the 2022/23 season earned him praises from football pundits saw whim scored three times in more than 30 appearances.

However, his performance was not enough to save his side from avoiding relegation due to the club’s poor run of form.
