Nii Amarkai Amarteifio is backing Kur Okraku for another mandate

The Board Chairman of Accra Great Olympics, Nii Amarkai Amarteifio has endorsed the candidature of GFA boss Kurt Okraku, saying he deserves to be re-elected.

The incumbent president is seeking for reelection by contesting in the upcoming GFA elections slated to take place in September.

Mr. Okraku will be facing a stiffer contest from George Kwasi Afriyie who is contesting the honourable position for the second time.

The duo, ahead of the election having file for their nominations will be facing the election’s vetting committee today, August 21, 2023.

Nii Amarkai Amarteifio has since thrown his weight behind the incumbent GFA boss to be given another mandate to occupy the seat as the next president of the association.

According to the former Consul General of Sweden in Ghana, Nii Amarteifio, Mr. Okraku is the right man to head Ghana football to the promised land.

“There’s a wind of change, I see a lot of transparency under his watch, and I see a good intention which I can be translated into good reforms, and I think he is going to that directions, and I think he should be the chance to develop the things that he has started.

The emphasis on youth football, colts’ football and female football – these are very encouraging signs that I see in him [Kurt Okraku] and I give him my support and I think he deserves and should be given the second chance to stabilizes the situation and to pursue the objective that he is going now,” Nii Amarkai Amarteifio told Onua TV.

He was convinced the direction of Ghana football under Kurt Okraku administration is heading towards what he described as “the right direction” therefore he should be given another mandate.

The election has been scheduled for September 27, in Tamale.

Nii Amarkai Amarteifio, is the Dean of Consul Generals in Ghana and Vice President of the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC).

As a member of the International Bar Association. Mr. Amarteifio is a founding member of the Ghana Arbitration Centre and serves on its Governing Council.
