Prior to the game, Medeama were confident of beating Remo Stars by a huge goal margin in order to make the reverse fixture a mere formality but the Nigerians gave a very good account of themselves.

Speaking to pressmen after the game, coach Evans Adotey admitted that Remo Stars gave a stiffer competition but he is confident his outfit will get the job done in Nigeria.

“Remo Stars were fitter than us; we expected them to defend and hit with the counter-attack but they attacked and attacked”

“We played against a very disciplined team. We did our best and we hope to complete the job in Nigeria,” he stated.

Medeama will travel to Nigeria for the reverse fixture this weekend with the winner of the tie to face Guinean giants AC Horoya in the final stage of the preliminary round.
