JUST IN: Karela United join race to sign former Kotoko defender

Ghana Premier League side Karela United have joined the race to sign former Asante Kotoko defender Maxwell Agyemang.

Agyemang is currently a free agent after his contract was terminated by Asante Kotoko.

Since his release, understands the centre-back has become a transfer target for some Ghanaian top-flight clubs with Karela United becoming the latest club.

As earlier reported, RTU have also shown interest in the defender who was deemed surplus to requirements at Asante Kotoko.

It is believed that Karela United have officially contacted Maxwell Agyemang for his service ahead of the 2023/24 league season.

RTU interested in Asante Kotoko defender

The 27-year old is reportedly negotiating with a foreign club but might consider signing for a local club should he fail to get a move abroad.

Agyemang joined Asante Kotoko on a three-year deal from Division One League outfit Wamanafo Mighty Royals in 2021.

Throughout his tenure, Agyemang showcased his prowess with a string of commanding performances at the heart of Kotoko’s defensive line.

Maxwell Agyemang contributed to Asante Kotoko success in winning the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title under the tutelage of Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.

And despite having one year remaining on his contract with the club, Maxwell Agyemang has been encouraged to embark on a new chapter in his professional journey.
