Former Real Tamale United defender, Yussif Nurudeen Mohammed is set to sign for Asante Kotoko after snubbing Hearts of Oak. can exclusively report that Nurudeen Mohammed has reached an agreement with Asante Kotoko after crunch talks.

The enterprising center-back is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract with RTU after the 2022/23 league season.

Asante Kotoko could secure the acquisition of Nurudeen Mohammed by the end of next week after a tussle with Hearts of Oak.

He was instrumental for RTU last season and played a pivotal role in ensuring the team maintain its premier league status in the 2022/23 league season.

It is believed that Hearts of Oak wanted to leapfrog Asante Kotoko for Nurudeen Mohammed but it seems the defender had already concluded on his decision to join Kotoko before Hearts Oak’s approach.

He is expected to travel to Kumasi next week to complete the deal before the official announcement.

Should the deal materialized, Nurudeen Mohammed will join the Asante Kotoko defense that already boast of Henry Ansu, Nanabayin Amoah, Yahaya Dawuni, Yusif Mubarik, Mohammed Sheriff and host of other talented defenders.

And with Asante Kotoko signing defenders to bolster squad for the forthcoming league season, the former Ghana Premier League champions have terminated the contracts of Maxwell Agyemang and Andrews Appau.

The two defenders who were crucial in Asante Kotoko league triumph last two seasons have been released to make room for the new additions.

As earlier reported, Andrews Appau is returning to his former club Bofoakwa Tano FC in the ongoing transfer window.

He left Bofoakwa Tano FC to sign for Asante Kotoko on a four-year deal in October, 2020 and now making a return to the club.
