CAF CL: Medeama pip Remo Stars 1-0 in Cape Coast

Medeama goes into the second leg with an advantage

Medeama SC opened their 2023/24 CAF Champions League campaign in a spectacular fashion, dispatching Remo Star 1-0 at the Cape Coast stadium.

Relying on the efficiency of their attacking force, the Ghanaian champions were fearless of Remo Stars’ early threat and handed them a reality check in a highly competitive encounter in Ghana.

The Nigerian side were stunned in the 21st minutes when forward Jonathan Sowah smashed home the opener for Medeama which prove to become the match winner.

Remo Stars pushed for an equalizer before recess after conceding however the host defensive backline were too good for the Nigerians to penetrate as the first half ended 1-0.

The second 45 minutes saw both teams enjoyed possession, creating equally-good-goal scoring opportunities but failed to utilize them into goals.

A long spell of game management propelled the ‘Yellow and Mauve’ boys to control the remaining minutes ending the clash 1-0 in their favour.

The slim win gives Medeama SC an advantage going into next week’s reverse fixture at the Remo Stars Stadium, Agamu in Nigeria.

Medeama started the game with a strong line up with Vicente Atingah captaining the side.
